Hello New York International Automobile Show
In 1900, the New York International Automobile Show became North America’s first automotive exhibition. For over one hundred years, through depression, war, boom-time, oil crisis, recession and growth, it has continued its pioneering tradition of bringing new and innovative ideas to a national and world stage.
Below are highlights from this year’s show:

The Festival of Sukkot
The Festival of Sukkot begins on Tishri, the fifth day after Yom Kippur. It is quite a drastic transition, from one of the most solemn holidays to one of the most joyous. Sukkot is so unreservedly joyful that it is commonly referred to in Jewish prayer and literature as the Season of our Rejoicing.
Sukkot is the last of the three pilgrimage festivals. Like Passover and Shavu’ot. Sukkot has a dual significance: historical and agricultural. Historically, Sukkot commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert, living in temporary shelters. Agriculturally, Sukkot is a harvest festival and is sometimes referred to as Chag Ha-Asif, the Festival of Ingathering.
The word “Sukkot” means “booths,” and refers to the temporary dwellings that we are commanded to live in during this holiday in memory of the period of wandering. The Hebrew pronunciation of Sukkot is “Sue COAT.” Sukkot lasts for seven days.
After reciting the blessing, “Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, Who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to take the lulav,” the etrog is turned right side up (or picked up) and the user brings his or her two hands together so that the etrog touches the lulav bundle. The Four Species are then pointed and gently shaken three times toward each of the four directions, plus up and down, to attest to God’s mastery over all of creation.
The waving ceremony can be performed in the synagogue, or in the privacy of one’s home.
One Midtown Kitchen played host to GAAMA and the all-new 2015 Corvette
On Thursday, Sept. 18, Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAAMA) members had the privilege of test-driving the 2015 Corvette. In 2014, Corvette sales were up 232% in (January through August). The Stingray averages 20 days to turn. Corvette sales growth has made the “sports/sporty” segment the second-fastest growing segment in the industry, according to AutoPacific. And, with the addition of Z06, Chevrolet will offer 14 performance cars, no other brand comes close.
The all-new 8-speed automatic transmission is offered on all Corvette models, as is the industry-exclusive performance data recorder.
The industry-exclusive performance data recorder was conceived by Chevrolet and built in collaboration with Cosworth. It has and integrated video camera, microphone, and GPS/telemetry system which seamlessly records drive videos you can watch in the car or download and share online. It also includes professional-level telemetry analysis software so drivers can improve their skills by using similar data analytics used by Corvette Racing.
Valet drivers beware because the system includes a Valet Mode, which allows drivers to record what happens when their Corvette is out of sight.

Life is all about how you handle Plan B
Plan A is always the first choice. You know, the one where everything works out to be happily ever after. But more often than not, I find myself dealing with the upside-down, inside-out version where nothing goes as it should. It’s at this point where my character comes in …
Do I sink or do I swim? Do I wallow in self-pity and play victim, or do I shift gears and make the best of the situation? The choice is mine.
After all … life is all about how you handle Plan B.
Remember, Pomerance & Associates is there for you when you need help with Plan B.
