GM Ventures’ first pick: Bright Automotive

General Motors’ newly formed venture capital group announced today its first investment: Bright Automotive. The move will “help accelerate Bright’s production of the IDEA, a revolutionary plug-in hybrid commercial vehicle,” according to the press release on Bright’s Web site.

Bright Automotive, which displayed at the most recent Washignton Auto Show, was launched by the esteemed Rocky Mountain Institute, a Colorado-based think tank whose mission is to “free the global economy from dependence on fossil fuels.”
